Why Six-Month Jewelry Inspections Matter

Why Six-Month Jewelry Inspections Matter

Why Your Jewelry Deserves a Checkup Every Six Months
Your fine jewelry is made to be worn, loved, and enjoyed for years—often for generations. But just like anything you wear regularly, it needs a little care along the way.

At Saxon’s Fine Jewelers, we recommend—and require for the Saxon’s Promise—that your jewelry be professionally cleaned, inspected, and recorded at least once every six months. It’s a simple visit that can make a big difference in protecting both your jewelry and your warranty.

A Six-Month Check Can Help Prevent a Lost Diamond
Even the finest jewelry experiences normal wear and tear. Rings bump against countertops, prongs catch on clothing, bracelets get knocked around, and settings naturally experience stress over time.

Often, these changes are so small you won’t notice them yourself. A prong may begin to loosen, a stone may have a little movement, or part of a setting may start to wear thin.

During your six-month inspection, our team can identify these concerns before they turn into bigger—and potentially more costly—problems.

Think of it as preventative maintenance for the jewelry you love.

Keep the Saxon’s Promise Active
There’s another very important reason to stay on schedule: your six-month inspections help keep the Saxon’s Promise active and in place.

All of our jewelry comes with a lifetime warranty against manufacturer defects; normal wear and tear is excluded. Any necessary maintenance must be performed as recommended for the Saxon’s Promise to continue.

For qualifying jewelry, we guarantee the diamonds stay in and stay tight as long as the jewelry is checked every six months and the inspection is recorded on your account.

That last part matters. When you bring your jewelry to us, we don't just inspect it—we document the visit so there is a record of your regular maintenance.

Cleaning Is About More Than the Sparkle
Of course, there’s also an immediate benefit to your visit: your jewelry leaves looking beautiful.

Everyday life can quickly dull a diamond's sparkle. Lotions, soaps, cosmetics, natural oils, and everyday dirt can collect underneath stones and inside settings.

Professional cleaning removes buildup from areas that can be difficult to reach at home, allowing light to travel through your diamonds and gemstones the way it should.

And while your jewelry is sparkling again, we're also looking closely at the parts you can't see.

What Are We Looking For?
When you bring your jewelry in for its regular inspection, we're checking for signs of wear that could compromise the security or longevity of your piece. Depending on the jewelry, that may include checking the prongs, stones, settings, clasps, and overall condition of the piece.

If we notice something that needs attention, we can discuss it with you before a small issue becomes a larger one.

Six months can come around quickly, especially when everything looks and feels fine. That's exactly why these inspections are important: jewelry doesn't necessarily look "broken" before it needs maintenance.

A Few Everyday Habits Can Help, Too
Between visits, a little extra care can go a long way. We recommend removing your fine jewelry before showering, sleeping, swimming, using a hot tub, going to the gym, cleaning with chemicals, gardening, or participating in activities where your jewelry could be hit, caught, or exposed to unnecessary wear.

And remember: you don't have to wait six months to visit us. We want you shining bright all the time! You're always welcome to stop in for a cleaning whenever your jewelry could use a little extra sparkle.

Has It Been Six Months?
If you're looking at your ring right now and thinking, I have absolutely no idea when I had this checked last, that's your sign.

Bring your jewelry into Saxon’s Fine Jewelers. We'll give it a professional cleaning, inspect it carefully, and record your visit to help keep your Saxon’s Promise active.

A few minutes of preventative care today can help protect the jewelry you'll treasure for a lifetime.
